O Lord, the great and dreadful God,
keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him.
(Dn 9,4)
Great…, dreadful…, keeping the covenant and mercy…
Isn’t strange this beginning of the prayer?
Why is Daniel so sure that God will forgive him?
It probably comes from Daniel’s personal experience.
God many times showed Daniel that He LOVES Him.
By starting this prayer, Daniel has no problem
with his honestly confession,
disobedience and unfaithfulness of all people.
He doesn’t hide anything, but knows
that justice not necessarily takes sides with theirs. (Dn 9,7)
Because he has experienced
so many times that God
is keeping the covenant,
he trust in Him also this time
that God in His mercy will forgive them.
Believe that God, who you confess your sins to,
is loving and affectionate, good and merciful!.
Recall to your memory how much goodness
have you received in your life from Him.
And do you still think that God
does not want to forgive you?
(Dn 9,9).
Have a powerful day!
